wood shop
The DATA Wood Shop is a place where students come to learn the fundamentals of woodworking and put their academic skills into practice in a fun and encouraging environment. All students get the opportunity to work on projects of their own choosing, giving them freedom of expression and allowing them to do something that excites them. While learning the woodworking trade students will also be honing their skills in measurement, math, science, geometry, and using their artistic and language skills in a meaningful way. Students will learn the basics of technical drafting by hand and on the computer. Students are encouraged to express themselves through the art and science of woodworking.
Common Core State Standards
This course is aligned with standards outlined in the CCSS Building and Construction Trades, Cabinet and Millwork Pathway. This course covers various topics from A1 though A9 outlined in the standards with some variation due to the difference is student selected projects. This course also offers support for various aspects of CCSS Core Curriculum including: LS, RSIT, RLST, WS, WHSST, GC, G-MD, G-MG, N-Q, SEP, PS, ETS
